Weeds

Audra glanced outside, wafts of steam blowing onto her cold face. She held a mug of fresh coffee, trembling, as she looked out into the foggy field surrounding her trailer. The day had been bright, burning away the sea mist that crept over the sleepy town. A steady crash of the ocean had kept her hopeful, thinking just maybe the night wouldn’t come. But it had.

What Really Happened?
by Karen Liu
I wake up to my whitewashed room, ever since moving here I hated the barred windows, it barely lets the lights in. Only if Elaina never convinced me to move to this place. The room is very small, and the padded walls are a strange choice for decoration. I sit quietly and pass my time listening to the radio I have. The soft music suddenly turns to static, and the voices come again. I listen intently trying to make out what they are saying, the ghosts are shy at first but soon they’ll talk to me. I speak aloud to the ghost of Mr. Hendrich, a ghost who died in the confederate army during the Civil War.

Light vs. Darkness- The Beginning
Daniel Bobuslavsky
"Finally," the sorceress said, "the time has come. Now I can summon Python." She walked up to the River of Creation. It’s murky color came from two keys - the key of darkness and the key of light. These keys created everything so whoever possessed both keys would rule the world. The key of darkness could only be handled by a creature that lived in the underworld, such as the sorceress. She already possessed the key, tipping the scale of creation, and making the River of Creation, Earth, and the underworld darker. But in order of achieving her goal of destroying the realm above the underworld, Earth, she had to possess both keys. The problem was that the key of light could only be given to her by a creature of Earth. The sorceress thought of this as a minor setback. For her, a minor setback was like a car needing gas. In her mind, she had already solved this problem...

Daniel Boguslavsky
My school might look normal. If you take a step inside, it would still seem normal. I mean, it has a main office, a cafeteria, an auditorium, etc... But trust me, weird things have been going on. Some kids have been dropping out of school. This might not seem unusual. I mean, every school has a couple kids that are better off watching TV 24/7 than going to school, but there’s something fishy going on....
